I am attempting to knit a dog sweater for Tatum. I am going to cable it, I hope… and I’m adapting it from a sweater that is supposed to fit a yorkie. Well, Tatum is much bigger than a Yorkie, and my math is utterly horrible, so we’ll see how it goes.
The worst thing about knitting is the math. Fortunately I have my husband, who is a math genius, to help me out.
So this is the beginning. I love the colors! I hope I don’t have to start over. It’s Worsted Weight yarn and I’m using size 8 needles. I have 200 stitches going now, and I think… and hope, it’ll be enough to fit around her.
So enough blogging, I want to get knitting, watching TV, and drinking coffee from one of my new coffee makers.

I know I shouldn’t get it… but I can’t help myself, because they have such great value and such beautiful products, and I really do love to knit!
Check out these Ankle Socks at Knit Picks. I ordered enough yarn for 4 pair plus the pattern. And a set of #2 DPN, that nice colored wood I’ve been wanting. And really, it all was just over $20. Not too bad!
I really want to do some up for Christmas Presents but I doubt they will come in time, and I doubt I’ll be able to get all four pair done. But who knows, I’m getting pretty fast at knitting socks. I’m not going to say what colors I got, but two are solid and two are mutli-colored. I’m excited. I was going to get the 2 day shipping but it was $10 more and that was a little pricey, I think.
Oooo knitting! I am just working on the end of a second sock I want to give to my obedience instructor for Christmas. I should be able to finish those up in a day or two.

I want more yarn. I want to knit some things for Christmas presents, one in particular. And I know of a place that sells nice, inexpensive yarn… Knit Picks! Oh man, I can go crazy at that site. I love the look of their new needles, and they have a really nice free download of some felted slipper socks that look like a lot of fun to do.
But if I buy something there, I may just buy too much. And I have been spending too much money lately on dog things, and I really have to stop. I have a ball of yarn at home for socks, and I can just make those.
So tell me no, don’t buy any yarn!

I finally started knitting again. I like to wear browns in the fall, so I stopped by the knitting store today and bought some nice brown sock yarn, the kind that has other colors mixed in and comes up with a fun pattern.
Socks are a lot of fun. They are a bit challenging in the heel and gusset, and easy on the calf. Or, when I want a challenge, I get out my sock book and do one of the patterns that are more tricky. This time I wanted something easy that I can just get done. and I love as the knitting goes along, and the yarn is woven into a pattern. I love the pattern, I love the feel in my hands, and the look. It feels good to be knitting again.
And when I finally get enough money saved up to redo my kitchen, I’ll knit in the kitchen and I’ll get to find some really nice cabinet hardware for the new kitchen!

Ugh, I’m tired. After cleaning out that room yesterday I was completely tired last night. And today was run around day for myself and my husband. We went to church this morning (yuck - I haven’t been for over 10 years, I don’t believe in organized religion) because the husband’s Dad and StepMom are going on a Mormon Mission for a year and a half. So we went, I knitted, and we listened. It actually wasn’t too bad. The feeling in the church was very happy and pleasant and loving. People love community like that. I like it sometimes, but I prefer my quiet time at home with my family, human and canine.
I was quite chatty and relaxed at the family gathering that came afterwards. The Zoloft helps me so much. It’s amazing. I would usually be stressed and anxious, my SA kicks in big time. But I wasn’t bad at all. I ate too much, too much dessert especially, and was glad to leave when we were done, but I wasn’t so anxious that my voice went monotone like it has in the past.
Then we went to Coscto shopping, then we went to the husband’s work because he had to do something, then we came home for a bit. Then we went to my sister’s because it’s her birthday today. Happy Birthday Sister!
And then we went back by Costco because the shorts we’d bought my husband were too small (I told him he’d gained weight lol), then we went to Smiths so I could make healthy food tomorrow, and then we finally came home.
Then I fed the dogs, and gave them all bully sticks. They are happily chewing, while I get to sit and relax and blog a little bit, then watch the 4400! Woo Hoo.
Oh and I bought new sheets for the spare bedroom. I’ll have to take pics, because they are doggie sheet and I couldn’t resist! Got them at Costco, too.

Here is a closeup of the cabling on my blue cabled socks. Not sure how well you can see it… If you click on it, you will see the bigger picture with more detail. I really love to cable. It is fun, and I think I’m pretty good at it, too. These socks are too small for me but they will fit my friend at work. She wears a size 5.
And below is a picture of both the socks. One is done, the other I am over half way finished. I’ve done the heel flap and turned the heel, and am working on the gusset decreases. LOL, I still can’t believe I understand all this knitting jargon. Never in a million years did I think that me, tomboy I’ve always been, would knit, but I really do love it! The heel turn is the best part. Who ever came up with that? It’s very cool.

After I finish these socks I will continue to knit my afghan I’m doing for collie rescue. Maybe make some money off of that, I hope so. Probably won’t be too hard to at least get back what I spent on yarn. And maybe a bit more for the collies.
I love this yarn. It’s called Lorna’s Laces and I bought it on ebay. I bought another color too and made some other socks. But I think I like this deep rich blue better.

I can so understand, now, how people call yarn pictures ‘Yarn Porn’. I can just get lost for hours looking at yarn. On the web mostly, but going to the shops is also fun. Just looking and touching and feeling. But the Internet does have a wider variety than my local yarn store.
I want to make more socks. There are some nice patterns in Sensational Knitted Socks. I got the book from the library yesterday and there are two I really want to knit.
So off I went to look at yarns and I settled on these two:

So off I went to look at yarns and I settled on these two:

Lorna’s Laces Springer
And

Lorna’s Laces Pond Blue
Aren’t they just gorgeous? I love the springer especially. I hope they are nice yarns. I bought them on ebay.
Gotta love ebay!
However, I should really not be allowed on ebay when I’m bored.
Because I spend way too much money!
I also bought some things from Knitpicks, though I bought them yesterday. These Socks look like a lot of fun, too. So I bought the pattern and all the yarn for them. I wonder how many pair of socks I’ll be able to get out of the yarn.
I really need to organize my yarn. I am starting to have a whole boat-load of the stuff!
(I’m going to leave comments on this post for a little bit, maybe I won’t get spammed too much.)

I am learning how to knit socks. They are fun.. challenging while at the same time having easier spots. I’m not too crazy about the ribbing, but I like doing the heels, and the gusset decreases.

First Pair of Socks
I’m having a hard time matching when I make a pair, as they are tricky. But I think I need to remember, or write down, where I started the change. At what color. Perhaps that will help me get them to match a little bit better.
Now I want to go buy some sock yarn… and I’m thinking I should get some at www.knitpicks.com. They have really nice yarn there. However, I’m not sure how much to buy, as sometimes their skeins are a little bit smaller. Now where did I put my sock yarn label, to see how much I bought at the LYS…

The first of my scarves is done. This is a template scarf, for Lucy. Lucy is a Slitheryn. She is cunning and it just fits her!

I plan on gathering some herbs for the scarves, to see how that goes too. And I’ve ordered all the colors. However, the yellow is severely backordered, so no Gryffindor or Hufflepuff for a while. Ugh. Only Ravenclaw and Slitheryn.
