Find Pet Insurance

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

As ya’ll know, I have six dogs and two cats, and sometimes the cost of medical insurance can get pretty pricey. Especially now since three of them are getting older… Lucy, Levi and Angel. Lucy is 9, Levi is 8, and we don’t know how old Angel is, but we think she’s about 11 or 12. She’s really starting to slow down, poor girl.

So anyway once in a while I toy with the idea of getting health insurance for the crew. But finding the best deal on pet insurance is difficult, because there are so many ins and outs to consider. And it’d be nice to find a place that takes credit cards, because that’s such an easy way to pay. Though we do pay all of our credit cards off on a monthly basis because we hate debt.

There is a website by Money.co.uk that gives a great comparison tool for various pet insurance plans that you can use to find the best one for you. I’m going to go and see what is the best for my pack. Though I still suspect it’d be a bit expensive for us. But if you only have a couple of dogs or cats, it really would be great to have the peace of mind of having a health insurance policy on the animals! I wish I could put them on my own health insurance… that’d be great!

Dog Products And Health

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I am always looking for good quality Dog Products for my dogs. Especially for Chase, who has nasty allergies and itches a great deal when his allergies act up. He has grass and environmental allergies, and he looses his coat during the winter months a lot. It gets all raggedy and thin, and he has no undercoat. So I try to look for hypoallergenic products for him that will help his coat be healthy and reduce his allergies. In fact, he’s probably due for a bath already.

Dog Shampoo is important because it is ph balanced for the dog. We do sometimes use people shampoo on our dogs, but not often, and not on Chase. I think maybe I should take Chase to a Dog spa to get him fixed up! And of course it’ll have to be all natural products, because I want to do best by him and the environment. Maybe getting him some good healthy shampoo will help his coat and deliver some vitamins that he is missing. Though he’s on a raw healthy diet, so inside he is healthy! I actually went raw to see if it would help him… well, it didn’t really. Unfortunately.

He’s our goofy border collie. Might be a mix… and they say purebreds are unhealthy. Chase is our least healthy dog, he has a low thyroid, too. But we are doing all we can for him to keep him as healthy as possible!

Vote for a Home Makeover!

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Transform Your Home Oooo there is a fun contest going on! And if you want to vote, you can check out the semi-finalist gallery. I just did so and picked this entry.. mainly, well, because they have dogs. And I do love dogs!

And as I well know.. it’s possible to have a wonderful, clean, and pretty house with dogs and cats, and to let the world know that dogs and cats don’t make for an awful home, I voted for these guys. I do wish I would have qualified… because we’d love a home makeover too! Sometimes I think that all homes are getting better… but sometimes it seems that they just get dragged down by time, and they so need to get that extra boost of renovation that is so important. And this contest is an awesome way to get that boost!

The winner who gets the most votes will receive a $20,000 home makeover with Tayna Memme… ooo, that could totally renovate our home. Oh well, we are too late to enter but that’s okay. The entrants in the semi-finalist gallery really do need it too. And you can vote until June 7th… and, I think, you can vote multiple times if you go every day, but I wasn’t completely sure about that.

So check it out!

Chocolate with Chocolate Chunks

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

It goes without saying that I love chocolate. All kinds. Especially Fudge. I haven’t had fudge in a while, but I miss it… I wish that we could program our food like with food replicators, so that it taste’s like chocolate and ice cream, yet has all the nutrients we need. Ahh… someday!

My husband sometimes says “It has too much chocolate.” But I think that is not possible. I love chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks and chocolate sauce on top! I think I’m going to go to the grocery store on the way home and get some…

Gertrude Hawk Chocolates look so yummy, I want to order some of them. Maybe I will just have to, it really is almost my birthday…

Ostriches

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

I am not a meat eater.. though I do use animal products. And I do feed my dogs a raw food meat diet and I like to find different sources of meat for them. My biggest concern is the treatment of the animals.

My Mom loves Feather beds and pillows and other feather products, saying they are the warmest and most comfortable. And I do love my feather bed.

So if you are interested in Ostrich products, just make sure you find a company that, like ostrich.com, is “dedicated to the world-wide advancement of the ostrich industry through ethical agriculture, education, promotion and sound business philosophies”. I want the animals to be treated well, and these guys, according to their web page, seem to be doing okay.

Shoes for Summer!

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

I am so excited for summer. Today, it’s snowing. Yuck. I don’t want snow anymore! It’s May Day and I really love May, and I love the spring and I am looking forward to some warm weather and some sandals. I love sandals. I want more sandals. Which is odd, because I really am not a shoe collector, but I do like sandals.

And so I’m looking at all sorts of shoes. Including tsubo shoes, which I’ve never heard of before. And seychelles shoes which also seem very cool, indeed. And even minnetonka boots would be great. I’ve always wanted moccasin type boots! Ever since the 70s when I didn’t have the guts to wear them. :)

I especially love their Birkenstock sandals, and I think a pair would be an awesome gift for my sister’s birthday in July. Don’t tell her, though. She likes sandals and she wears them quite often. So maybe I’ll think of getting her some for her birthday! But then I’d have to buy some for myself, too. LOL

Almost Mother’s Day

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Man I can’t believe it’s almost Mother’s Day already. The year just flies by. Soon it’ll be July and the year will be half over. Dangit! I would love to get my Mom some mothers day flowers this year. I’m going to look into it. I did get her something from Boulder, Colorado, when I was there… just something little, but I won’t say what it is in case she reads this. ;)

I am, actually, doing agility in Colorado for this Mother’s Day… so the weekend after I’ll be seeing my Mom and Dad. It’s one of my only weekends off this spring. From dog things. Ugh. I have so many dog things in the spring!

If you are interested, check out 1800flowers.com for flowers for your Mum this year! I’m gonna!

Cards and Dogs and Stuff

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I have been running some collie rescue here in Utah, though I haven’t done any for a while because our house is just too full with six dogs now. But sometimes I’ve wondered about getting some car door magnets for Utah Collie Rescue in order to advertise and get the word out that there are homes for collies in here Utah.

Vista Prints car door magnets are great. And wow, they are inexpensive! They start at $9.99! That would be so neat to have one. I’d even love to have one just for the collies… because I do love collies and love to plaster stickers on my car all about collies.

They have tons of designs, over 100, or you can create your own and use it on your magnet. You can receive it within three days, which is amazingly fast. And you can chose from a couple of sizes, one that will fit your car.

I have used Vista Print for business cards and they always have great, fast service and their quality is very high. I need to get some more business cards too, soon. I’m running out. Maybe I’ll get a magnet at the same time…

Be Happy Be Safe

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Staying safe in today’s world is getting harder and harder. Personally, I am afraid of going camping all by myself. My husband said, the other day, he might take the trailer and go camp on his own for a bit, take a few of the dogs with, and have fun. I told him that’s great and I envy him that he feels safe doing so. Being a woman, I would not feel safe camping on my own.

Online saftey is also important, and lifelock provides a great service that can help you prevent identity theft. I haven’t signed up, but I’m seriously considering it. I do get nervous about having my identity stolen, especially since I’m on the web so darn much. I just hope that it will never happen to me and I monitor all my resources like a hawk.

Might Need a new Cell

Friday, April 4th, 2008

I might need a new cell phone. I may be outgrowing my pre-pay little cell phone that I’ve been using for about two years now. I love the phone… I like the color, the feel, the features… it doesn’t have many features, mind, it’s pretty minimum. But it texts well and that is the very thing I like the best. I just need a text-machine, as I really hate talking on the phone. But I love texting on the phone. LOL

So if I get a new phone I’m going to need some Cell Phone Accessories. Because I love accessories, even though my budget is pretty tight right now with paying for my car repairs and taxes. Ugh. But if I do get any accessories, I would go to Anything For My Cell. They have been in business now for three years, and they are doing a great job! Their site is very well laid out, easy to navigate… their shipping is reasonable, and they have accessories for every brand you can imagine.

Their products are guaranteed to work with the listed cell phone models, too. So if you get something that doesn’t quite fit, or work, they will replace it for you with something that will. They have customer service you can reach online or on the phone, if you need help with anything, too! Check ‘em out!
