Star Trek 2009

logoscWell I just got home from watching Star Trek. I have to admit, I was completely amazed. It’s non-stop action.. which kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. I saw it at the local Imax which just enhanced the entire experience.

The casting was excellent, and I could picture James T. Kirk and Spock in the new actors.  I could also picture McCoy and Scotty, Chekov, Sulu and Ohura. They did a great job and they all felt right. It was like meeting them all over again for the first time.

The ships were are authentic to TOS, and the uniforms were, too. Even down to the sleeves with the rank ensignia stripes.  Of course they used a slightly different design and a little different material to fit the 21st century movie viewers tastes, but they pulled it off perfectly.

Slight Spoilers

They incorporated Captain Pike too, and at the end we see him in the chair that he lived in in the very early Original Star Trek days.  Though he was still functional.  They also had Kirk do his Star Fleet Academy test that he cheated on.  It was great seeing that all take place!

I wonder where the new Star Trek Universe will go to now… as, since this was a time travel episode, it ended with some pretty major changes. Maybe they need to rewrite all of the TV episodes and movies now, to line up with the new movie!

All in all I loved it. The special effects were amazing, and the story line was rich and kept my interest the entire movie. Wow. I will have to see it again. And I must admit, as much as I liked X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek had a better story line and richer characters. But not as much eye candy for women. Dang, you just can’t go wrong as Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine.

Now off to get some compact flash cards for my camera so I can take more dog pictures! I’d rather go back to the movies!
