There are antiherpesviral drugs and while antiviral drugs can't eradicate the virus any more than antiretrovirals can eradicate HIV, they can sometimes even bring a cure. Most antiherpesvirals are ridiculously expensive, but EBV also responds to some more affordable drugs like valaciclovir. Lysine is a supplement with antiherpesviral properties. Taking undenatured whey protein can also help (it has to be undenatured or it won't work). Olive leaf has activity against many viruses.
