An Answer To My Feeling Badly
Okay so, I’m not crazy! The doctor called me back today. The Lyme test was negative, which really isn’t a surprise. I still might get tested for it again as I’ve read that 50% of Lyme tests come back as false negatives.
However, the mono test came back positive. Ugh! So my mononucleosis has reactivated. It’s one of those herpies viruses. Epstien-Bar virus, it’s also called. And once you have it, you always have it. Many people are immune. Some people keep getting it reactivated throughout their lives. I, apparently, am one of those types of people.
So they test for the antivirals and they are present in me. Joy. So now I know why I’ve been feeling icky. My boss said I can work from home tomorrow, so I probably will.
Now I feel even more tired. I guess it’s taking me longer than usually to bounce back from the flyball tournament last weekend. And I haven’t had much motivation to post on my blogs, either.
I hope this doesn’t last months and months. It can. And since it’s a virus, there’s nothing the traditional doctors can do about it. Bleh. But at least I get to work from home, smear myself with the best wrinkle cream I can find… errr… well, lotion anyway, since I have such dry skin. And just rest tomorrow and this weekend.

Take care of yourself and feel better soon!

There is plenty that can be done about the Epstein-Barr virus! There are antiherpesviral drugs and while antiviral drugs can’t eradicate the virus any more than antiretrovirals can eradicate HIV, they can sometimes even bring a cure. Most antiherpesvirals are ridiculously expensive, but EBV also responds to some more affordable drugs like valaciclovir.
Lysine is a supplement with antiherpesviral properties. Taking undenatured whey protein can also help (it has to be undenatured or it won’t work). Olive leaf has activity against many viruses. There are many natural antivirals, but these are probably the most effective ones.
