My Laptop Needs a Doctor

Poop, Crap, Yuck… every bad word you can imagine!  I have to take my laptop into the shop, and I really don’t want to.  Bleh.  It’s going to be a super huge pain to be without my laptop for who knows how many days…

I will probably take it in this week. My vista laptop is no longer recognizing it’s own wireless network card. And I assume that to fix this, they will have to wipe the hard drive. I do have everything backed up though so hopefully it won’t be too bad to reinstall apps when I get it back. Bleh.

From what I’ve read on the web about this problem with Pavillion Notebooks, most likely the motherboard will have to be replaced. Because the wireless network card is built in to the motherboard.  Sometimes the laptop will detect the card, but mostly it won’t.  So from home I’m plugged in by cable. From work I won’t have my laptop at all, I’ll just have my work PC.  Hrmph.

Well, I hope to get the laptop back quickly. I’m going to call HP first and see if they can walk me through a problem. Wish me bunches of luck.

I hope you get your laptop really soon. It could be a bummer to have the laptop repaired. My whole life is in my laptop. There was just that one time when I had to surrender it for repair and I felt that I lost an arm or a leg for one weekend.

Sounds like it might be less of a PITA to get a cheapie wireless dongle and scrap the junky motherboard one. If it failed once, it’ll fail again, that’s my motto …
