My Biggest Crabbie!Isn’t he a cutie!? I love hermit crabs. And… strangely enough, I haven’t managed to kill them off and it’s been a year since I’ve gotten them.

Yay! I tend to kill off fish anymore… mainly because I don’t have the time to clean their tank every other week. Hermit crabs, however, don’t need so much cleaning. Though they do need a high humidity and high temperature cage. About 80% and 80 degrees respectively.

I have three… and I hope to get a couple more. I’m looking into adoption of the little guys, istead of buying them from the pet store. But I’m not sure if there are any up for adoption around here in Utah.

I just thought I’d post this picture, I took this yesterday. This guy just got a new shell, and he’s the biggest one of the three.

On this day..

    You just gave me an idea :) instead of replacing the two goldfish in my aquarium which recently died with another set of goldfish, I will try hermit crabs this time. I saw hermit crabs in the nearby pet shop and I think its price is not that expensive right?

      Hi Ferienhaus… if you get hermit crabs, understand they are not just animals you can throw i a cage and feed once a day. They need a certain temperature and humidity to survive. You might want to do some research before you get them.

    My eldest used to keep hermit crabs. I can’t cuddle them so I’m not a big fan. {giggle}

    I was wondering if you still had hermit crabs!! Hadn’t heard about them in a while.

      hey Christy.. yeah, I was so worried I’d kill them off like I have with fish, that I’ve been avoiding them. Well, I think I’m ready to get back into the little crabbies!

    Nice ! after we got our Gerbils, I heard they had adoptions for those little guys, so I would assume they have adoptions for Hermit Crabs too :)

      Hi Chris.. yeah they do, but nothing around here. Maybe I’ll be the Hermit Crab Rescue. :) But I don’t need another ‘thing’ to do! lol

    You are doing way beter than I ever have. The longest one has survived with me has been one week. For that reason I stick to heartier animals that are a more durable.

      Hi Tracy… Hermit Crabs take a bit more care then just putting them in a cage and feeding them. They need a certain temperature and humidity level or they are destined to perish!
