CynthiaNot sure if you know or not, but I’ve worn corrective lenses since I was in Jr. High. I wear rigid gas permeable contacts because they are the only thing that actually corrects my vision. I have Kerataconus, which means my eyes have very thin and misshapen corneas. I can’t have Lazik or any other type of corrective eye surgery because of my corneas. when I don’t have my contacts in, I wear eyeglasses but they don’t really correct my vision all that great.
So anyway I try to keep my eyes in good health… and that reminds me I need to go in the the eye doc for my yearly soon. But anyway, my prescription for glasses changes a lot. And getting new glasses is always a pain because of it, and glasses are just so darn expensive.
Unless I go to Zenni Optical. They have a great deal on prescription glasses, only $8.00! Wow! They can have low prices because they don’t have a middle man and they don’t have much of an advertising budget. Kinda like that low cost sun tan lotion I guess. So maybe I won’t have to pay $300 for my next pair of glasses. Interesting stuff… looks good to me!

So sorry to hear about your eyes! I understand what you’re going thru. I have really bad astigmatism. When they do the topographical test one eye looks like a ragged mountain range. I had to switch to the rigid, gas-perm lenses (multi-focal) 12 years ago. I never wanted to wear contacts, but as you know, there isn’t really another choice when the glasses don’t work. I’m far-sighted so the edges of my lenses are very thin. And I see better than I ever did with glasses.
I know someone who had cornea transplants to correct Kerataconus. It worked out so well for him. Has your doc ever talked to you about doing that?
