Where are all the Blonde Men?

I’m an avid TV watcher and I just have to wonder… not only about obvious lack of blond men on TV and in the movies, but the stark contrast there is between beautiful women actors, and rather plain men actors.

Oh sure sure there are numerous attractive men like Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise. But on TV there are very few really attractive men. Even in the movies, if there’s one or two gorgeous men in the show that’s rare. Even some of the men, like, say, Nicholas Cage, if you didn’t know him and saw him on the street, would just be an average guy. I think his personality makes him very attractive.

And where are all the blond men? I love blond men! The only actor that comes to mind who is very bright blond, and very attractive, is Owen Wilson. I love Owen Wilson and watch all his movies when I can! I haven’t seen his new one yet, though. blond hair, on men and women, is my favorite. I’ve read that many blond men are more feminine… and women generally like the tall dark and handsome look. I will not deny, I also like dark… but I love blond men and want to see more of them. I can’t even find a website filled with gorgeous blond men.

So is the average person intimidated by gorgeous men on TV? Or is the interpretation of a gorgeous man different than that of a beautiful woman? Where are all those lumpy women in awful uniforms on the cop shows? We only see the gorgeous ones on TV…

You bring up some very interesting points. I too love TV and I never noticed the lack of blonde men. I will have to pay more attention. As for attractive men, I have the Nicholas Cage theory. I believe they put beautiful women because men look at the beauty. Women find men attractive for what they are and do, not necessarily how they look. So they can use men like Nicholas Cage, who really is not that attractive, and give him good parts and boom - he's attractive. The really good looking guys are nice to look at but I never expect much of them :) Sexist?? Probably :)

I don't see many blonde men in real life either. That brings up the question. How many of the blonde women are really blonde? :) When I lived in Utah in Bountiful there were tons of blond women. Waaaaay too many. And I believe looks matter more on TV for a female actor then men. Not the talk about the number of roles for older women as compared to older men. And I voted that I am not attracted to blonde men. :) But then women are more my preference.

I tend to see blond men as rather flakey. I personally like the dark haired guys. But you are right, the men on tv and the movies are pretty average, nothing really strikes me as WOW ! Now women need to have theat WOW factor or they dont make it. On another note…when I comment, it does not save my prev info. I did claim my comments as registered, hmmmmm.

Enjoyed reading your blog very much especially the section on dogs. Am a dog lover myself. Have the most adorable basset hound whose grandfather was named "Levi" just like your dog. Anyway, I basically prefer salt and pepper dark haired men but at the end of the day isn't is all about that elusive concept known as chemistry :)
