My Sister just told me about Community Supported Agriculture. Have you ever heard of it?
I have not… and we are going to do it. I guess you pay a certain amount to a local farmer and then you have a share of fresh veggies for the whole summer, depending on what is currently growing and being harvested. And you are supporting local farmers, and local business, which is another great thing to do.
We are going to go through Bell Organic. They still have some slots open. This is local to Salt Lake City, Utah. If you want to find something around you, I bet you can search for it. My sis found this article in a local newspaper about CSA.
I’m really excited about getting fresh produce all summer long! And we won’t even have to garden for it. My Husband’s ankle is sprained, and my back hurts and I have so much dog things to do… that we may not have time for a garden this year. Bummer, but we’ll need to plant tomatoes anyway.
Maybe we can cook some of the veggies on Ford grills, like corn and eggplant and things. Ooo yummy!

Thanks for the tip on Bell Organic. I spent the last 10 minutes or so on their site and the program looks fantastic! I shot the link over to my wife. We live in Provo, Utah and would love to join the program. Do you happen to know of any down here in Utah County?

I’ve heard of co-ops, but that was back when I lived in the country… CSA sounds like a great idea; I sure wouldn’t want to make a garden myself… had enough of that while growing up.

The site Slow Foods Utah has information on the trend to freshly grown organic foods.

Awesome! We already started our garden this year, but if it flops this will be a great alternative. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Mike.. check out this site

Not sure if I posted that in the post… I should have. It has a number of CSA companies listed. Most seem more expensive, though, or already full. I hope you find something!
