I Think I Get OpenID

Filed Under (Techie) by User ImageCynthia [More Me!] on 25-04-2008

Tagged Under : , ,

Though I’m not quite sure yet. I think I get OpenID… just like finally I get del.icio.us. Here is my OpenID page if you care to see:

Cynthia Blue

So with OpenID… it has to be a URL / domain name. I guess… you can use your own domain name. If you don’t have a domain, you can sign into one of the companies (like ClaimID) and they give you a pseudo domain name that is your OpenID.

I think I was thinking OpenID is more than it is. I was thinking it was a social type network thing… and I guess it can be, but it’s not really, yet.

What is it, you may ask? OpenID is an ID you can use to log into websites that support it. When you post to a blogger/blogspot blog, it will give you the option of using your OpenID as one of your logins (if the blogger has set it up this way). But.. as far as I can tell, you have to use one of the publicly hosted OpenID sites to host the OpenID. ClaimID is one of them. Then… when you log in using your OpenID, the login page checks… err, checks something, not sure what, to confirm your OpenID and log you in.

What does it check? What does it know what to check? The geeky side of me wants to know!

I was thinking OpenID was a website in and of itself. Well it is, but you can’t get an OpenID from the OpenID website! Or at least I don’t think so. You get one through ClaimID or sites like it, such as MyOpenID. How does ClaimID talk to OpenID? No idea. Maybe someone will come along and clear this up.

I was thinking OpenID was a website where you could enter your information, link to other people with OpenIDs, and have a good old time. But… it is not. However, ClaimID seems to be, though it’s limited. You can claim your websites, and you can have contacts that have other ClaimIDs. I have one.. Johann The Dog. So if you have a ClaimID OpenID, I hope you’ll consider being my friend… my ClaimID is very lonely!

I need some home theater furniture to sit in while I figure this all out. OpenId really should be easier to understand than this! Or, sometimes, I’m just a bit slow. ;)

VerveEarth

One of the things I really enjoy about browsing to other blogs, is checking out things in the side bar and clicking them to see what they are. That’s how I found VerveEarth.

It looks pretty cool! I don’t even remember what blog I saw it on now… oops. :) Anyway, you can put in your blog and info, and then you can see what other people are around you and read their blogs.

They do need to be able to allow people to put in multiple blogs. Since I have six blogs, it’s not really practical for me to put all six in. So if I could relate them all to my one login, that’d be better. Guess I need to suggest that to them. :)

It’s a kinda fun community kind of website!

Magic House

Filed Under (Dreams) by User ImageCynthia [More Me!] on 25-04-2008

I had a fun dream last night. I only remember bits and pieces, but when I was having the dream it was like an entire story… but it was, actually, like I was watching a TV show or movie, but I was the main character.

Fortunately I didn’t need any life insurance in the dream… but basically I could take care of myself. I had just discovered my magical powers. And I was in a house with another woman. She, also, had magical powers and she was teaching me how to handle mine.

She had a lot of experience and was a new friend. This house was hers and it was magically protected, too. When we were inside, she was teaching me how to appear as though I was dead. Or how to seem like I was not there at all. Not really invisible, just not noticed. And when I would try this, I would change my appearance so that I looked like a walking corpse. All rotted and bones and dead skin. I wasn’t grossed out by it though, as I was learning my magical powers and how to control them.

There was also a little dog in the dream. Not sure what he looked like now… kinda scraggly, maybe a mix, maybe a cream color… or maybe black. Strange how I can’t remember a color isn’t it.

The dream went on and we had to leave the house to confront the neighbors… the house next door was for sale and I really wanted to buy it. But we were in danger. Not really from the neighbors, though. They were just white trash living there who were not friendly. Nor were they magical, thank goodness. Well, at first they weren’t. :)

So we left the house by my friend and mentor wasn’t feeling well. I vividly saw the house and the grass surrounding it, and how there was like a magical force field protecting and surrounding the house. The grass outside this shield was trampled and worn, as those after us were trying to get to us the prior night. But inside the shield the grass was fresh and full. Was neat to see the evidence of the shield that way.

We went around to the neighbors house and knocked on the door. At this point there was me, my mentor, and a man who also was a friend. We confronted the people and they were not friendly at all. Our little dog ran in their house… and then like five or six dogs of theirs ran out and were going to attack us, but I was able to handle the dogs just fine and they didn’t do anything but jump on us and annoy us a bit. They were some kind of shepherd mix, brown and black and narrow faces. Maybe they had some greyhound in them.

yeah this is getting long… lol. For only remembering bits and peices. :)

The neighbors were not too nice… like I said, and one of my mentor’s relatives, a brother or a cousin, came by and walked into their house. He had a long stick with a detector on the end. And he was looking for four sided diamonds… or something like that. Which we thought was quite eccentric.

We then left the neighbors house and went back to ours.. via the back yard. And the houses were all very close together (not sure where the yard went). And when we got back there my mentor had fallen to a spell. The man and I were able to carry her into the house… but before we got there, the man couldn’t see the house.

I was new to magic, or something, and so the illusion didn’t work on me. So I was able to see our house in the middle of all the houses. The man didn’t, and he walked right by. I had to speak up and say ‘hey’ our house is right here! And when I did we went toward it and he almost ran into the porch. But when I opened the door we all went inside.

Then I started to wake up.. I think we got into the house okay, and my mentor started to wake and she was fine.

It was a fun dream. Strange, yet fun!

Hmm Social Spark

Okay I did it, I signed up for SocialSpark. Yes, with this blog. I’ve been surfing around their website for a few days now… and it took a while for my blogs to be approved. But they have been approved, and now I am a fully fledged member.

So far, I don’t see any really super opps. :) Unfortunately. But we’ll see how it goes in time. And the thing I do like is that links, now, will have the nofollow attribute in them. So maybe, just maybe, google will like that better. Not that I really like, or care about, google, but I do make more money blogging when I have PR. This blog does not have PR at this time, which sucks. And all posts (like this one) require in-post disclosure. Personally, I don’t care one way or another about that.

Anyway, so we’ll see how it goes over the next while. I am not sure I like the layout of their website yet. It seems like it’s all Ajax? Is that Ajax? I’m not very familiar with Ajax so I don’t know. And when searching for an opp, if you resort by one of the columns, it resets your filter criteria, which sucks. So you cant sort and filter in the same window, it seems. But I have yet to figure that out.

So it’s interesting. I’ll keep using it and see how I like it. And hopefully I’ll have a more informative review in a while. It does take me a couple of weeks of using a website to really know whether I like it or not!

Entrecard Debate: Pro choice vs Pro life

Filed Under (Daily Posts) by User ImageCynthia [More Me!] on 23-04-2008

Tagged Under : ,

Okay, I’ll jump in on this debate. :) I have found two posts on this already, and if you want to comment to add you link, feel free.

Lee Doyle
Seeking Shanti

Now this is a respectful debate… no flaming, or your comment will be deleted.

I am Pro Choice. I consider myself a liberal, and I’m also pro gay marriage. But this is about Abortion. I think women should have the right to do what they feel is best for their own bodies.

When Does Life Start?
I am not so much a person who debates when life starts, or does not. As a matter of fact, I think that most things are alive. And most beings are sentient. I don’t eat animals, because I do not, in any way, believe that we should kill another life to survive. It is no longer necessary. And I believe that animals, at least mammals, are aware of their own existence and have a full range of emotions just like human animals do.

So why do I think it’s okay to end the life of an unborn? Either human animal or other animal? Is the unborn alive? Perhaps. Either way, the quality of life for the unborn should be taken into consideration. First off, there are too many dang humans in this world anyway. Just like there are too many dogs that need homes. If one of my dogs became pregnant (which they won’t because they are all fixed) I would abort the pregnancy.

I eat plants. And I believe that an unborn is about as alive as a plant. I don’t think there is consciousness yet until just before birth. And so I think that the life quality of the being needs to be considered, as well as the timing of the abortion.

I will admit to you, I was pregnant once. Not many people know that. The day after I found out, I scheduled the abortion. The quality of life for that mass of sells in my stomach would have been awful aqt the time. This was about 14 years ago. I miscarried before I had the abortion, but I felt no guilt about scheduling it. I felt no remorse, and I think I would have felt no sadness or regret had I gone through with it. It’s a mass of cells, in my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Women need to be able to make the choice. 100% of the choice. They may be influenced by others, including the father, but it’s the woman’s ultimate choice whether she wants to have that mass of cells develop into a human or not.

Choice is Paramount
I honor, respect, and revere life. I think it’s an amazing thing, and very valuable. I also think choice is paramount. I am not religious in any way. I think we should treat others well because it’s the right thing to do. I don’t take any god into account when I say what I feel about being pro choice.

If Roe v Wade is overthrown, it would be awful. Women will have abortions anyway, in very bad conditions. And their health will be at risk. Keep it legal. It’s freedom of choice. We must have abortion stay legal.

That is my opinion. :)

Dreamed Again

Filed Under (Dreams) by User ImageCynthia [More Me!] on 23-04-2008

Well, my dream from last night if fading again… I remember a room like a corner. Not really a corner room, but a room that was entirely a corner, and very small. And I was there… and I think my husband was, and it seemed like it was an office maybe. And we were moving in and out of it.

But I’m not sure anymore. I don’t think there were any chandeliers in that corner room… it was too small! I wish I would remember more of my dreams! Dreams are fun. Dangit…

Oh well, maybe tonight!

Sleep Softly

Filed Under (Daily Posts) by User ImageCynthia [More Me!] on 23-04-2008

My back hurts… and so does my neck. Been this way for quite some time, now. My neck has probably hurt for about six to eight months. While my back has hurt for at least a month. Though my back isn’t too bad now, not as bad as it was a month ago when it all started.

I’m going to try to see a new Chiropractor. The Orthopedic doctor didn’t have much of a clue as to what might be wrong. Though maybe I should see a different one. Chiropractors seem to work best, but I need to find out if my insurance covers one, and how much, and it’s being confusing so I might have to call. And I hate telephones.

Anyway I got a memory foam mattress topper and I just love it. I sink into the darn thing and it’s very comfortable. I like soft better than hard to sleep on anymore. I think when I was younger I preferred to sleep on hard.

I have to remember to take my earrings off when I sleep, too, or they fall out. I have lost too many. Maybe I’ll find some men’s jewelry in my bed.. but since the husband doesn’t wear any, maybe not. :)
Anyway, I am tired of my neck and back hurting. Ugh. I want to get better.

Want to Make $300,000 a Year!

Filed Under (Daily Posts) by User ImageCynthia [More Me!] on 23-04-2008

Tagged Under :

Man, I wish I could even make $50,000 a year blogging. Or doing something online. After I retire, that could really nicely suppliment my income. I better get to finding out how to do it. I watched this video interview of John Chow on Zedomax, and dangit, I would love to bring in that kind of income.

Though John Chow considers himself an Internet Entrepreneur, instead of just a blogger. Maybe I need to change my mind set. I do have six blogs… maybe if I used a used cisco router to save money, I’d do better!

Well, I can dream of that property in Richfield and all the money I’ll make blogging. Oh, I did buy lottery tickets in Colorado, gotta go see if I won that $91 million!
