Living in a more Rural Area

So… I want to move. Have I talked about that before? I dunno. But I want to move to a more rural area. And, having talked it over with my Husband, he wants to move to a more rural area, too. And so we are thinking of the Richfield, Utah, Area.SevierCounty

It’s about 2.5 hours south of us, and is in Sevier County, Utah. Here is a map of the area. Richfield is in the center. I think if you click this picture, you can see a bigger version… I’m using blogDesk and I’m not positive I got the thumbnail working right, but I think it’s okay. Guess I’ll find out when I publish this post.

So anyway… I’ve been looking at some websites for property down there. Ideally we would love to have about 10 or 20 acres of property. Buy now, or in the next couple of years. We could even go camp on it, or put a trailer on it to visit it frequently. And then, after our house is paid off, we could build a house down there. And then, after I retire, we could move. I would so love to build a house! Of our own, and design it for dogs! And have some walk in tubs in the bathrooms…. oh I love to dream.

That would be awesome. The only bad part is that it’s cold down there in the winter. Just as cold as it is up here in Salt Lake City, Utah. And I’d prefer a warmer climate. Though with warmth comes bugs, and I do so dislike bugs.

We are going to be looking around for a while, see what we can see. I sent an email to a realtor, so maybe something will pan out!

Kind of fun to play a new place to live. Don’t let bugs stop you, they are everywhere. I’m farther north than Utah and I’ve seen creepy crawlies out already up here.

Hi … I came across your blog while looking for anxiety blogs … and wanted to say hello. I lived in Utah for many years too and am now living (for the last 15 years) a couple miles outside a very small town in rural northern California — and I haven’t read much of your blog yet but it sounds like you and I have some similar issues and experiences with anxiety, dogs, high-tech work, etc. — so I wanted to tell you that for me, living in a beautiful, quiet, slow-paced rural environment is a huge help in managing my anxiety, especially as compared with living in a city. The area you’re looking at is so amazing, too (I almost ended up in Escalante instead of here). Good luck with your search — I look forward to reading more of your posts.

I used to want to live in a small town. I grew up in one. But as I have gotten older I have kind of changed my mind. As you get older you kind of need the things in a city. What one needs to do is plan a life that doesn’t require car travel for everything. That makes life much simpler.

As soon as my youngest son is out I am going to try to get into Old Town Alexandria. Go to the country on the weekends. :)

Hi Tina, thanks so much for your comment. I will check out your blog, too. I would like some weather that’s a little warmer than Richfield.. but either way, I really do crave the slower pace!

Hi Kim, even here in Salt Lake we have to take a car just about everywhere.
