WordPress and Tags
Well, with WordPress 2.3.3 we now have tagging. I am starting to like it, but adjusting it and arranging the tags is proving to be a pain in the rear. When I upgraded, somehow I got strange tags that are just numbers. 11, 23, 44, 18… etc. And yes, I do have posts with these tags. And with the default WordPress installation, there is no way to manage these tags.
So step up Simple Tags. A fairly good WordPress plugin. I can manage, rename, and delete tags (from the Manage menu item in the Admin Panel, not Options) and do some various other things as well.
There is also an option to tag old posts that don’t have tags. However, I’ve installed and tried this option on Tip Tail and Tatum Tot (my other blogs) and so far that feature has not worked. Plus, the google wiki that is available is not very clear, and the English is a bit hard to understand.
So I’m trying to figure it out. I do wish the option to tag old posts would work, since I don’t want to go through all zillion of my old posts and tag them by hand. Maybe it is an option I am not getting right or something. I just dunno. Or maybe some personalized pens would help with my motivation… eh? Especially if they were dog related!
Anyway, here’s to learning how to use tags.

I guess maybe I need to upgrade, now that you have paved the way. Thought I still don’t understand quite what tags are all about.

I am just starting to understand Tags myself… after playing with them for a bit I understand them better. It’s so much easier to get them going on a new blog with fewer posts. Tip Tail is gonna be a nightmare for me to retag everything.
Tags came with WP 2.3… you probably already have them.
