Bought a Digital SLR Camera

I don’t have it yet… just bought it on Amazon today. It’s used, though supposed to be in good shape. It is quite a nice price ($360 total).

I decided on the Olympus Evolt E300. I was looking seriously at the Cannon Rebel XT, but it was a bit out of my price range.

This camera has the lens, software, and the whole she’bang with it. Manuals etc. Slightly used. And with all the waiting I’ve done on ebay, checking out prices for the Cannon, I just got tired of waiting. Plus, there’s not that many listed on ebay. So I opted for the Amazon option.

I hope it works out well. I have lost 2 cameras (little point and shoot ones) since September 07, so I figure it’s a sign for me to buy a good decent SLR camera for once. Digital. I never even owned a film SLR camera. But I knew how to use them. However, I have forgotten it all, so I’m going to have to relearn everything!

I look forward to taking some good dog pics, and crusing pics, with the new camera! (I refuse to loose this one!)

    I know the feeling. Here are some bullets from a message we got last week to reduce costs.

    1. reducing lighting in public spaces;
    2. reducing the operating hours for the heating and cooling systems;
    3. lowering the standard for ambient heating to 68 degrees and raising the cooling temperature to 76 degrees;
    4. reducing the number of operating building entrances and guard posts;
    5. shutting down one-third of all elevators;
    6. shutting down the escalator in the South Building;
    7. enforcing the prohibition of space heaters in Agriculture Property Management Regulation 110-74-190;
    8. modifying facility service contracts (e.g., janitorial, landscaping, window cleaning) to provide core services only; and
    9. curtailing non-essential building systems repair and maintenance.

    No big deal for the most part. But just what the heck is ambient heat? I am freezing most of the time and here is the reason. I sit by the window. I have a radiator behind me that puts out heat. Directly above my head is a vent that blows cold air. As it has been explained the purpose it that vent is blowing to circulate the warm air coming from the radiator. All I know is that sometimes I have to work with gloves and a coat on. I have frigid air blowing down the back of my neck.

    The service contract note is also bothersome. The restroom is always a disaster as it is. :( Stopped up toilets on a regular basis. Faucets that don’t work.

    Hey Kim thanks for the ideas. My husband and I are always disagreeing about the house temp. I want it colder, he wants it hotter!
