Utah Democratic 2008 Primary Elections

My goodness. The Utah Democratic party websites are awful! They mention not a word of where/when/how/why about the 2008 Primaries. I spent a ton of time searching around the websites, even non-democratic.. heck, I just wanted to be able to vote in the primaries!
My friend said that Utah Democratic Primary Elections is an oxymoron here in Utah. Well… perhaps. Utah always goes republican. And you know if Mitt Romney wins the republican vote, he’s who Utah will vote for.
For the most part I sit and watch while the rest of the country makes, hopefully, a decent decision on president. The last couple of elections I’ve been embarrassed that our country has chosen George W. Bush. I don’t like him, want him gone, want him OUT of office and I have for 7 years now.
Anyway, I finally found the website that’ll tell you, here in Utah for 2008 and other years too, what the location of the next election will be for you:
Salt Lake County Elections. Of course this is just Salt Lake County. I am in Salt Lake County so sorry if you are not, but maybe it’ll give you a starting point. On this page you can put in your address and it’ll tell you about the next election. Since the next one is the primary in Utah, it is the one that comes up.
However, I also signed up for the Vote by Mail option. So hopefully they’ll send me a ballot in the mail for the primaries. But I don’t know if they will, or if it’s only for the main elections. Now I gotta find out an answer to that question. hrmph.
So I’ll put in my little tiny liberal voice from under the barrel of the Utah conservatives. But hey, I try!

I have DishNetwork and their channel 100 has this survey/quiz right now that takes your ideals and matches them to the politicians currently running for president. I was really surprised after taking it that Richardson matched me 97%. I didn’t even know who Richardson is. So it leaves room for thought.
Anne’s last blog post..Best Minnesota Camping Spots
Wow. Thanks for the link. I just confirmed my info and requested to do Mail Only voting! Maybe now I will vote as I hate lines!

Cool Chris, I did the mail in too.. though we have absentee voted for the last 2 or 3 elections. Where we go in early, before the election date, and there is no line at all.

Way to go seek out your opportunity to vote! Democratic primaries in Texas are a joke too, but that doesn’t stop me from getting to the poles and voting. Every voice counts! (in theory) 2008, its the end of an error.

I was doing a search for ANY kind of clear information regarding the Utah primary, and up came your entry pointing out that it’s nearly impossible to do so. Some sites said there was no primary today. Some said it ended at seven, others said eight. There was no mention of location, and the one form I found made it impossible for anyone off the grid to find a site. My husband went to one site, only to be turned away and sent on a goose chase to find the appropriate location.
Is this really a reflection of the Utah Democratic party? I know we don’t stand a chance at swinging Utah from red to blue, but there’s really no excuse for this level of disorganization.

Hi Alex, yes it is sad isn’t it. I have gotten some responses to the people who run the websites.. though now I don’t remember which websites.
And it is true, maybe that is why the democratic party doesn’t have a chance here in Utah. And I’ve been following the elections closely this year, as I really want Bush OUT of office. There is no excuse, I agree with you. If I was more involved in politics than I am, and had more resources, I’d start a Utah Democratic Blog… heck, maybe I just should. Want to contribute? We could both post entires.

Hey Cynthia–I love the idea of a Utah Democratic blog. I just dropped you an email so we can start brainstorming, but let me know if it gets to you ok.
