Cruise and Passport

Well, it’s looking pretty good about going on a cruise. I’m excited. I also found everything I need to renew my passport. I have two old ones, and I have to send in the most recent one. It was issued less than 15 years ago (I got it in 1994) and so I’m good for the mail in renewal. I also found our Marriage License and Certificate, I will have to include those as well. Oh yeah, I was going to look at the turn around time with passports, as I’ve heard the horror stories of how long they are taking now. Hopefully mine won’t take 10 months to get!
We are looking at a Carnival Cruise that goes to Grand Cayman and Belize City, among other things. I want to go scuba diving. I’ll have to get my scuba certification renewed as well, because the last time I went was back in 1998. I wouldn’t feel comfortable going unless I got re-certified. I think it’s just a short lesson and I can go to Sea Base for it, it’s considered an open water dive.
I am quite excited. I’ve invited some people, too. We’ll have to know who is going to come, for sure, soon. I want to get a good price on the cruise. And, I get the bug to do something like this and I like to plan early! I wonder if the ship will have wireless internet. I would absolutely love to blog from the ship! I’ll have to check it out. Here at home our wireless network is working well, and so is our used cisco we bought a year or so ago to power it all!

EDIT: Yay! I just found, on the Carnival website, they do offer wireless access on the ships! Yay!
I can’t make a guarantee about the time for a passport – but 3 to 6 months is usually plenty – heck 3 is normally plenty and thats without the expedite.
As far as the wireless – it is available on most ships – but make sure you look at the price – it is usually per hour/minute or something.

Thanks for the input Matt! I lookd up Carnival and the wireless is pay by minute, but that’s okay. I think it’d be worth it for me to blog about my travels while I’m there.
And I hope that passport comes through by the middle of next year, then I’d be happy.

its definitely worth it – if you conserve your usage – i.e. write the post – then login and upload it… and stuff like that… I’ve had clients just get shocked when they see the bill – thats all.

I am SO excited for you…I have always wanted to go on a cruise…I am going to talk S into one for our 5th anniversary!
I needed a new passport in two months and I did the rush and got it in two weeks…I think that it is a lot faster of a process than they want you to think it is!

That’s good news about the passport. I have heard, with all the immigration law changes, passports were taking a long time.

That is awesome. My husband and I have talked about going on a cruise sometime. A friend of ours goes often and they say it’s a lot of fun. How exciting!
