Knitting a Sweater for Tatum

Tatum's Dog SweaterI am attempting to knit a dog sweater for Tatum. I am going to cable it, I hope… and I’m adapting it from a sweater that is supposed to fit a yorkie. Well, Tatum is much bigger than a Yorkie, and my math is utterly horrible, so we’ll see how it goes.

The worst thing about knitting is the math. Fortunately I have my husband, who is a math genius, to help me out. :) So this is the beginning. I love the colors! I hope I don’t have to start over. It’s Worsted Weight yarn and I’m using size 8 needles. I have 200 stitches going now, and I think… and hope, it’ll be enough to fit around her. :) So enough blogging, I want to get knitting, watching TV, and drinking coffee from one of my new coffee makers.

I’m not talented enough to make my pugs their clothes so I usually just buy them sweaters…although they have gotten even fatter and are out-growing them lol. My gf wants a T-cup Yorkie so bad..but they are so tiny…not sure what to do just yet

I KNEW there was a reason I can’t knit — it’s the math! But those sweaters are adorable on Yorkies. I see one in my neighborhood from time to time, although his looks to be a lightweight variety . . . maybe cotton? Hope you’ll post some photos!

Hi Matt, those t-cup yorkies are a fad.. and fads and live beings are not good. They can live up to 18 years, those small dogs. And I’m afraid people will get them then dump them at the shelter. Plus, most probably come from puppy mills. So they could have severe medical, behavioral and psychological problems. If she wants a teacup yorkie please please please have her look into rescue first.

Hi Cambria, the yarn is a mix and now I don’t remember… acrylic probably so it’s washable and durable. I don’t think it has cotton in it but I will have to look. I always have to ask my Husband to help me with knitting math!
