Eggplant and a Clean Room

Clean RoomOkay, I’m a slob. I’ve admitted it before, I’ll admit it again. Not only that, but I am awful at organizing. This, too, is because when I try I get too anxious. Instead of doing things slowly, and thinking them out, I rush through and toss things willy-nilly all over the place. Probably the perfectionist in me again. We have a spare bedroom, and usually it’s where I put things I don’t know what else to do with them. When I clean out the room, I find old mail that I have no idea what I was thinking when I saved it. I should have just thrown it all out. I find old papers, messy books, dog toys and leashes… among other things.

Clean RoomAnyway, the Husband and I cleaned it out today. I took down my computer that was in there, and the table it was on. The only thing I used that computer for was to power my web cam. We are going to set up the very old laptop to do that instead. So now, it really is a spare bedroom! And we can have people stay in it when they come up for trials. I think this fall when the dog things stop happening so much, I’m going to paint it, too. The paint in that room has always been chipping off ever since we bought this house back in December of 1999. Wow, I can’t believe it’s been that long already. So it needs a good makeover. I want to rip up the carpet, too, but my husband doesn’t want to have to finish the hardwood floors, so the carpet stays down.

Eggplant Garden I need to buy some sheets for that room for the bed. And I think I’m going to find the biggest dresser I can, too, that will fit. Our house is so small (1300 sq feet) and has almost no closet room.

So this, check it out, is our eggplant! My husband is such a good gardener. Not only did he plant peas, he also planted two tomato plants, and three eggplants. This eggplant picture is kinda blurry, but you can see the thin purple fruit hanging from the leaves. We already ate one a few days ago. They are small, but they are delicious. Much better than store bought. We fry them up in a little butter (evil fatty butter) and eat them. We even tried them raw and they were not half bad. Though they were better cooked. We have been munching on peas all summer, they are really sweet, and really good. And hopefully we’ll get tomatoes soon. And the eggplant… I love garden vegetables!

What a beautiful eggplant! We used to grow them too, and the flowers were so beautiful I was always ALMOST sorry to see the fruits start. You look very happy in your guest room, I’m so pleased you tackled it. I have anxiety and depression too, and have discovered that breaking tasks down into one thing at a time works really well. If I need to clean the house I just can’t think about sweeping and vaccuming at the same time LOL. Enjoy your eggplant and your excellent clean room success!

I was afraid of what you were going to say that eggplant was. I won’t tell you what it looked like to me. ;)

You are exactly like me when it comes to cleaning. Did you know that there are others out there just like you?

Glad to know that I am not the only one living in an old house with no closets! We have a small bedroom upstairs that we have converted into a walk in closet of sorts…it could use a good cleaning out too!

I love the eggplant. My neighbors planted veggies this year and I going to plant next year b/c I am so jealous!

Thanks for your comments on my blog…I still can’t see you! When I told my husband I was going back on the meds he said, “Good.” I guess that says it all!

Hi Karen thanks! It is a cute eggplant. we were gone all day today so couldn’t eat it, but we will tomorrow. Yeah.. those flowers are gorgeous, I wasn’t able to get a good picture of them they are a bit small for my camera.

Breaking tasks down is a good idea. When I was a kid I think I was expected to tackle things all in one lump, and it did make my anxiety worse.

Hi Shelli, LOL yeah when I saw that picture I sure hoped it wouldn’t be seen as something else. :)

It seems most of the people I know have spotless houses. Except one friend of mine who is a man. The women… it’s nice to find other women who don’t like to clean!

Hey Molly that is a good idea about making the bedroom a closet! That bedroom is about the size of some closets I have seen in those huge houses. I wish we could tear out some of the wall and open it up and put folding doors on them, but that’s money and I don’t make enough from blogging yet to pay for that. LOL.

I’ll have to find out why my picture is not showing over there. Hrm. And yeah.. husbands can be such good guys. :) Mine also would say the same thing.
