Lucid Dreaming

Published by Cynthia at 2:31 pm under Dream Types

Well now that I have a dream diary I think I should really find more information about dreaming. I was on Squidoo the other day, and found a brief lens about Lucid Dreaming, but I didn’t read much of it. So I thought hmm… I need to find out more about this.

Best Site I’ve found so far is Lucid Dreaming – Dream Views.

According to them:

“…the average person spends 7 hours a day sleeping, and lives an average life of about 75 years, then he or she has slept nearly 1/3 (22 years) of his or her life away.”

Wow, 22 years sleeping. That is a lot of years. Looking at it that way it seems like a lot of time to waste. But sleeping is one of my favorite things. I love to sleep, and I love to dream. And by reading the info on that page, I think I already do Lucid Dreaming.

Lucid dreaming (also known as dream consciousness or conscious dreaming) is dreaming while being aware that you are dreaming. To actually have a lucid dream you merely have to recognize that you are dreaming. Realizing you are dreaming may not seem all that special, but becoming aware that you are dreaming presents the opportunity of controlling dreams.”

I love to dream.. it’s the best place to come up with stories. I’m a wanna-be writer (as are so many people) and I have a whole novel written out in my head. My anxiety gets in the way of me writing it down. I have it sketched out, but I need to put more detail in to that sketch I have written down. Anxiety again.. pisses me off. But I’m working on it.

Anyway, back to Lucid Dreaming. If I feel my mind thinking too much at night, I will start on my story. I love my story, and I love my two main characters… well, three.. well, five, if you count the furry ones. Anyway, the two main characters that are men are my favorite, and I have them all mapped out. And they get me through the night when I can’t sleep.

A lot of the time I can make my conscious mind thoughts into dreams. So I fall asleep but I still have the story going on in my head. And I direct the story to where I want it to go. So.. I believe that is Lucid Dreaming. It’s fun. I love stories, and I love to dream about them.

I will be looking into other types of dreaming as well, and see if I can post more information about them. Can you have Lucid Dreams?
